What is counselling? Counselling is a process of discussion which facilitates positive changes in a person's life and well-being.

What does a counsellor do? A counsellor will listen. They will provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space so that you feel more at ease to share your concerns and anxiety. A counsellor will help you explore better ways of understanding and coping with problems and improve relationships. You will also be lead to gain personal insight and awareness.

Who should see a counsellor? Anyone who is suffering from emotional pain, relationship conflict or difficulties, substance abuse or addiction, mental illness, parenting challenges, child and adolescent issues, unhappiness, stress, personal or work related situations that they feel they can't resolve themselves or anything else that is causing them concern.

Will my employer find out that I am seeing a counsellor?  No.  Employees have complete anonymity.  You can call our office and schedule an appointment around your work hours without asking for your employers permission. We are a completely confidential service.

How much will I have to pay?  Nothing.  TNEFC is part of a benefit's package your employer has paid into for you and your family.  You can receive unlimited yearly counselling sessions and will not have to pay out of your own pocket.

How do I know if my EFAP is with Thompson Nicola Employee & Family Counselling? The employee will be advised on their EFAP program at point of hire.

What can I do to encourage my employer to switch to Thompson Nicola Employee & Family Counselling? Speak to your human resources department.

Can my wife or children receive counselling? Yes. Your family is also covered for free unlimited counselling through your EFAP with Thompson Nicola Employee and Family Counselling.
